“Whirlpool Egg Elegance: A French Toast Delight on a Rainy Day!” 🍳🍞🌧️

It’s a rainy day here down under, and the morning lazily beckons, yet I know I must rise and prepare breakfast for my beloved family. I survey my pantry and discover a week-old loaf of Brioche from work, along with some milk, butter, and eggs. Ah, the perfect opportunity to whip up some delicious French toast!

Memories flood my mind as I recall developing recipes for Max’s Restaurants in the Philippines, and one of my favorite creations was the French toast with a delightful twist. Back then, I infused the egg and milk mixture with maple syrup, elevating the classic French toast with a rich, indulgent maple flavor. Using Brioche bread takes it to a whole new level of heavenly goodness!

But there’s more to this morning feast. During my Netflix escapades with “The Mind of a Chef,” I stumbled upon a brilliant technique known as the Whirlpool Egg. It’s a simple yet elegant way to elevate the humble egg, bringing a clean taste and a newfound pleasure to each delightful bite.

Now, let me share the magical recipe with you:

🍞 Whirlpool Egg🍞

  • 2 eggs

  • A pinch of salt

  • A dash of cracked pepper

  • 1 tsp. olive oil

  • 1 tsp. grated mozzarella cheese (optional)

Whisk the eggs gently with a fork, creating a golden mixture that holds the promise of a delicious breakfast.

In a tall saucepan, bring water to a rolling boil and add a pinch of salt, setting the stage for the Whirlpool Egg technique.

Once the water reaches its boiling point, stir it vigorously to create a mesmerizing whirlpool effect.

This simple step ensures the egg won’t sink to the bottom of the pan.

French toast


  • 4 thick slices of brioche bread loaf

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • A pinch of salt

  • Butter or oil for frying

  • Maple syrup, fresh berries, and powdered sugar for serving (optional)


  1. In a shallow mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, cinnamon powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined. The maple syrup and cinnamon will infuse the milk with delightful flavors.

  2. Place the brioche bread slices into the milk mixture, allowing them to soak for about 20-30 seconds on each side. Ensure the bread is evenly coated with the deliciously infused milk.

  3. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a bit of butter or oil to coat the surface.

  4. Once the skillet is hot, carefully transfer the soaked brioche slices onto it. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

  5. Remove the French toast from the skillet and place them on a plate. You can keep them warm in a preheated oven at a low temperature.
